A Stakeholder Validation Workshop on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Roadmap and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy on 29 May 2025. The workshop was conducted under the Advancing the National Adaptation Plan of the Maldives (NAP Maldives) project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented by the Ministry in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The objective of the workshop was to gather feedback from key stakeholders on the NAP Roadmap, the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, and the associated guiding principles for climate change adaptation planning in the Maldives.

At the opening ceremony, H.E. Ibrahim Mimrah, Minister of State for Tourism and Environment, emphasized the importance of establishing a structured and inclusive approach to adaptation planning. He noted that the NAP process will play a critical role in building resilience to climate impacts by ensuring that adaptation efforts are integrated into both national and local development priorities.

The workshop included presentations on the Maldives NAP project overview, the draft NAP Roadmap, the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, and the draft model for integrated institutional mechanisms. These were delivered by Ms. Zainab Gulisthan, NAP Project Coordinator; Mr. Moosa Zameer, Consultant; and Ms. Jauza Khaleel, Senior Climate Change Adaptation Consultant. Participants then engaged in breakout sessions and a World Café-style discussion to review and provide feedback on the roadmap objectives, stakeholder mapping, and guiding principles for adaptation planning.
